Gorakhnath Temple | Gorakhnath Mandir | Gorakshanath Baba

Gorakhnath Temple is also known as Gorakhnath Math. This is a very famous temple and situated in the Gorakhpur city in Uttar Pradesh India, about 4 km away from the Railway Station of Gorakhpur. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the Gorakhpur city, which dates back to the 12th century and dedicated to the Guru Gorakshanath Baba, The temple is spread over an very large area. It believed that the Lord Shiva took the avatar of Guru Gorakhnath, to bless the region.


In Gorakhnath Temple, Many peoples comes from many cities, town & villages every day for worship, but there is a lot of crowd in Makar Sankranti. In Makar Sankranti there is celebrated a big fair for one month. This fair is also known as the Kichdi ka Mela, It means in Makar Sankranti festival, Peoples comes here and do worship by Kichadi.This festival starts on 14th January and last for a month. In this fair there is a lot of shops of different things like Sweets, Jwellery, Shoes, toys and different types of Swings, Zoo, Theatres etc. So children, youths & old anyone can enjoy here in this fair.

The city of Gorakhpur got its name from this ascetic saint, Baba Gorakshanath. Who was popularized for “Hath Yoga”, a form of yoga which concentrates on mastering to develop self control.Where Gorakshanath, the chief disciple of the yogi Matsyendranath. They are founder of the Nath Sampradaya a line of saint.

In the Gorakhnath Temple area, you will find each items for worship, like Sweets, Chunri, Narial, Phool, Sindoor and Prasad.Also here is a lot of restorents in the campus of temple, where you can go for fast food, breakfast or lunch.

Here is a Dharamshala to stay for the people who comes from outside of the Gorakhpur station, this Dharamshala is placed in the campus of Gorakhnath temple.In this lodge all the basics and neccessary facility are availables for visitors.this lodge is managed by the a committee of the temples.
